Kontrola rodzicielska na komputerze – jak ją włączyć?

Turning on parental controls on a computer is not difficult. To start, create a Microsoft account. You can do this via the microsoft.com website. The form requires, among other things, your date of birth, as well as your first and last name. To activate the account, log in to your email and confirm by clicking the link sent in the message.

Next, click “Start” or press the Win key. Go to settings and sign in to your Microsoft account on the computer. This will link the device to your profile. The next step is verification. The system must confirm your identity. You will do this in three ways:

  • approve the request in the Microsoft Authenticator app,
  • use a verification code from the mobile app,
  • use of the PIN sent to the phone number or email address.

When this succeeds, in the 'Accounts' tab you will find under the 'Account settings' section a list with various functions. Select the 'Family' tab, then:

  • click the 'Add family member' or 'Add person' button;
  • a window titled 'Microsoft Account' will open. There you will find a bar where you need to enter the email address of the person you want to add. If the child does not have their own account, create one;
  • choose the role to be assigned to the new person. If you are adding a child, select the 'member' option;
  • the system will send an invitation to the provided email address. The child must accept it after logging into their account;
  • after accepting the invitation, the system will ask you to log in again to your Microsoft account. Do so;
  • the account.microsoft.com/family page will open in the browser. Use it to continue configuring the child's access to the computer;
  • select the 'Activity' tab and set the amount of time the child will be allowed to spend using the computer or other devices, e.g., Xbox console;
  • go to the "Schedule" tab and decide on which days the child can use the devices. Remember that the assigned limits may vary depending on the selected day. This allows you to adjust the time spent online, e.g., according to the child's duties. Additionally, in this tab, you can set limits for selected programs or websites;
  • select the "Apps, games and multimedia" tab and determine which applications, websites, or programs are allowed and which are completely blocked;
  • add funds to the Microsoft account. The child will be able to purchase desired games or apps without the need to use a credit card. This ensures there is no risk of the child spending all the money!

Windows 10 parental control without a Microsoft account – how to do it?

Wondering if it's possible to enable parental controls without creating a Microsoft account? It is possible. There are many programs on the market that help limit the time children spend using the internet. Among them, for example, are:

  • Qustodio – with this program, you can create a schedule for the hours and days your child can use the computer. This way, you don't have to worry that your little one will spend too much time in front of the screen. Moreover, Qustodio has two valuable features. One of them is the "block navigation" option, which disables the internet but not the device. As a result, you can still use, for example, office tools while doing homework. At the same time, the child is not distracted and does not visit websites. The other important feature is "lock device." This option completely shuts down the computer at a specified time. This prevents a situation where the child uses the device during sleep hours.
  • Mobicip – this is a program that allows not only controlling screen time. It also lets you apply filters and block various websites, games, or apps. This way, there is no risk that the child will browse sites that are not age-appropriate. However, it is worth remembering that the full version of Mobicip is paid. However, you can test the program for free for 7 days.

Remember, these are only example proposals of systems for controlling computer time. You will find many more on the internet. It is worth trying them out in practice to find the best option for yourself.
