Windows 7 / 10 / 11: How to Uninstall a Product Key

The following instructions explain how to properly uninstall a product key in an OEM license.

Note! Use these
instructions only if you intend to reinstall the system or switch to a different device!

To uninstall the product key from the registry, go
to the command prompt, then go to the search box in the Start menu and type: cmd.exe

Then right-click / Run as administrator

And enter the following commands:

slmgr.vbs /upk

slmgr.vbs /cpky

slmgr.vbs /rearm

Restart your computer after
entering the commands.

What these commands do:
slmgr.vbs /upk - Deactivates the system.
slmgr.vbs /cpky - Removes the key from the registry.
slmgr.vbs /rearm - Resets the system trial period - an additional 30 days of system use.
